I've grown up with a florist in our house... And it's given me a real respect for the work they do. Mum was up before sunrise to go to the flower market and would be working all day into the night. The time's I helped with the flower arrangements is when I saw the intricate detail that goes into making her designs. I'd go to bed in the wee hours of the morning, knowing she would still be there when I wake up. Or maybe she had only gotten an hours kip before going to decorate the venue for her client.
I like using my photography to help small business owners with images for marketing material and website etc. I attended a wedding with Beverley to capture her and her team at work. Below are a few images of the amazing work they produced that added such an elegance to the venue. They created a bespoke floral arrangement for a wedding reception at Dulwich College.
I was fortunate to have met Beverley nearly six years ago now. It was a few months before my own wedding, not only is she such a lovely person but she also decorated our venue out of the kindness of her heart.
She has now added another bow to her talents and is the proud business owner of "Beverley Wilson, luxury floral design & styling".

About Beverley Wilson
I am the owner of Beverley Wilson Flowers, luxury floral design and styling. Each design is custom made.
You work in London, would you travel further afield?
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I absolutely adore flowers and love the endless beauty of them and seeing the effect they have on people and the way they can transform a venue or an event.
What are you favourite florals? And your favourite way to use them?
I wouldn't say I have a favourite flower but particularly like to use fragrant flowers and like to use them to create days of old and conjure up different feelings and emotions with fragrances and beautiful scents to stir our emotions.
How do you like to spend your Sundays?
I often go to Church then the rest of the day is my time to just potter about at home or going to local shops and my garden centre.
What’s the accomplishment your most proud of?
Hmmm I have so many, but starting my own business is my most recent and makes me proud as I've wanted to do this for a long time.
Can you take us through the process of getting your business off the ground?
I literally started retraining 3 years before I was made redundant from my then job as we were told there would be several and serious cuts and redundancies.
In Nov 2015 I held a launch event, invited lots of Industry people, Wedding planners, event Companies, future Brides, Venue personnel and Bridal Magazine editors and offered my services.
I was then approached by a few magazines to do the floral styling for various photo shoots, which helped to get my name and company to a wider audience of people, I have not looked back.
Can you take us through the process of booking you for an event?
People usually contact me for an initial enquiry. I then offer a free consultation and discuss their ideas and recommend various flowers etc. Once everything has been discussed and agreed, a written proposal is sent to the client, a 50 % deposit is then made securing the date and the agreed items. The booking is then confirmed.
Do you work with a team?
At present I work with a small team of other trained freelance florists depending on the size of the event.
Beverly’s tips for arranging your event and questions you should ask your florist.
Can I add or change some of my flower choices.
Would scented flowers be recommended.
